Jarritos Can Design.

This project consisted of a can design and brand refresh for Jarritos’ soda. Jarritos is one of the most popular sodas in Mexico and is very popular in the states as well. The drink currently only comes in a glass or plastic bottle.

A canned version has never been available. Although the glass bottle is very iconic, adding a canned version of the drink would help reach a new audience and help with lowering waste. Cans are 50% more recyclable than glass and do not require extra cardboard to be safely transported.

Challenge: Creating a package design that feels new and refreshing while staying cohesive with the Jarritos’ brand.

Goals: Create a vibrant can design that will stand out on shelves and give a modern take on a classic design.

 Logo Refresh

The first step in the design process for the can was centered around revitalizing the timeless Jarritos logo. Although undeniably iconic, the logo had begun to show its age, prompting the decision to enhance the illustration and introduce a sleeker typeface. The goal was to modernize the brand identity by blending a fresh look into the design of the new can, creating a cohesive and eye-catching display.

 Logo Color

The next decision I made was to incorporate a feature where the logo colors adjust to complement the specific flavor of the drink it accompanies. By syncing the logo hues with the colors representing each flavor, we achieve a seamless integration within the overall aesthetic of the can design.

 Design Breakdown

The design of each can also changes based on the flavor of the drink inside. Every flavor will showcase unique can colors that perfectly complement the hue of the soda housed within. This thoughtful detail seamlessly complements the transparent glass bottles, allowing the vibrant liquid inside to be prominently displayed.
